South Texas Ranch

This South Texas Ranch is in a region of Texas known for its hunting. The Ranch compound was designed as a family/guest retreat and hunting lodge. The home is located in the beautiful countryside of South Texas and takes advantage of an attractive inner courtyard surrounded by existing large native oak trees to provide a more intimate environment.

On one side of the courtyard is the main house which overlooks a large pond with exterior views to the landscape. This main house has generous living spaces and porches and is equipped with a commercial kitchen for entertaining, an entertainment space and a bar area with seating for guests. Two guest houses are situated on two other sides of the courtyard for the owner’s children, grandchildren and guests who frequent the Ranch. The fourth side of the courtyard has a dramatic gun room and lounge for pre/post hunting activities. The overall architectural design of the complex is Texas country, with limestone walls, metal roofs, concrete floors, vaulted ceilings, and generous glazing throughout.

Other features of this South Texas Ranch include an owner’s residence, a manager’s residence, staff quarters, as well as a separate garage building equipped with a skinning room for use by the hunters. The magnificent setting in the south Texas landscape coupled with an intimate interior courtyard gives the group of buildings a wonderful sense of place.
