Sunset Ranch

Marble Falls, Texas

Sunset Ranch is located in Burnet County Texas.  The site is adjacent to the former ranch home site and sits on the tip of a peninsula forming a private cove on Lake LBJ.  This ranch house embodies and reflects the former ranch house and lake life as the aesthetic of the client:  Texas Contemporary™ married to nature.

The home had a complex design criteria for the family of four with two dogs.  It needed to serve as both a lake house and a ranch house.  The home embodies Texas Contemporary™ at its best with a modern-day dogtrot under a simple gable roof that distributes water to the rainwater collection system which is the home’s sole source of water.  The front of the home that faces the ranch is comprised of large limestone native to the site, metal panel, and punched openings.  The side and rear of the home that faces the lake with large expanses of glass.  The dogtrot connects the ranch and lake living with an outdoor living room suitable for storytelling, cooking outside, and cocktails by the fireplace.

Spatially the home includes two guest suites separate from the primary living quarters, a large mud/laundry facility, ample storage, master suite, kids’ suite, an office and a great room.  Each space has a view of either the ranch and/or the lake.

The home served the family very well during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.  The family retreated there and thrived while enjoying being off the modern-day grid.
