Experience Texas Contemporary™️

This month we dive deeper into the unique persona of Texas Contemporary™️, LEVY DYKEMA’s branded expression of the spirit that drives our design aspirations and creativity with every project we touch. From forward-thinking design to embracing sustainability, LEVY DYKEMA challenges the expected with the unexpected to produce work that exemplifies the dynamic attitude of Texas Contemporary™️.

Around the world, Texas means many things to many people… big, bold, proud. Combine that with the freedom of Contemporary™️ expression, and what you get is a creative palette that is steeped in sound principles, combined with elevated, modern thinking and solutions. This can be seen in many works from LEVY DYKEMA, such as Palo Verde IThe Uplands, and Cork & Barrel to name a few.

Hats off to Texas Contemporary™️!

South Texas Ranch
South Texas

The design for Palo Verde solves the challenge of a steeply sloped site to create appealing spaces that more readily attract tenants. The linear design and extensive use of glass maximize views down the canyon, while the location on the hillside creates the opportunity for ground-level entries on both sides of the building. Shaded exterior seating provides a great area for occupants to host outdoor events and for families to relax while shopping. In the first phase of a potential three-phase development, the building features 34,000 SF of flexible program, including eight retail units, two restaurants, and second-story office space.

Welcome to our newest monthly e-newsletter feature, The Thinker.

This month we focus on the essential equation of the art and science of purchasing for architecture design and interior projects. When on-time and on budget are baseline expectations, purchasing requires a strategic approach to optimize process, performance, and technology.

The major steps in the critical path may appear straightforward: determining need, identifying potential providers, selecting pieces and finishes, negotiating contracts, finalizing purchase orders, processing payment, and reviewing installations. However, whether it's insight into current trends, recommending the right manufacturers, getting COM approval, or prioritizing pieces to manage lead times, each step requires a depth of experience, understanding and insight to successfully complete.

Who will have the best insights, ideas, and knowledge to deliver the unique expression of your project? With over twenty years of experience in furniture selection and purchasing, LEVY DYKEMA has mastered the art and science of purchasing to make furniture the finishing touch for every client and project.

Think about that!

Last month, members of the LEVY DYKEMA Austin studio volunteered with TreeFolks to plant 1,000 saplings along Gaston Green Creek. They learned proper tree-planting techniques and riparian restoration. Some of the benefits of creekside planting include cooler water for aquatic life, erosion control, and filtering of pollutants from stormwater. This was a great reminder that all parks are ours and we should embrace and take care of them for future generations to enjoy. Wonderful work, team!

Earlier this month, the LEVY DYKEMA Corpus Christi studio organized and participated in a team beach clean up. By clearing debris from our beautiful coastline, the team contributed to efforts that will help continue to preserve and protect our beach for others to enjoy this Spring. Great job, everyone!

A Message from President, Stephen V. Levy

The idea of Texas Contemporary™️ was a response to clients’ questions about our design style. I am passionate about the architectural influences of our state's rich history and how we can reinterpret classic vernacular in a contemporary and timeless way. From that original definition, Texas Contemporary™️ has evolved to reflect our approach to service – a modern take on traditional Texas values of being a good neighbor, building lasting relationships, and doing the right thing every time. Now I see Texas Contemporary™️ as a way of life, a reflection of my love of Texas from the mountains near Fort Davis to the coast in my hometown of Rockport.

That’s why LEVY DYKEMA secured the trademark rights to Texas Contemporary™️. To share it with the world as a phrase of inspiration. Just like the famous line, "Don’t Mess with Texas", which originated as a message to not litter, it has now evolved to communicate a sense of Texas bravado and pride.

So welcome to Texas Contemporary™️ and the signature brand showcased at the top of this newsletter. Look for your very own Texas Contemporary™️ branded merchandise soon.
