Vision Issue

Texas Contemporary™ Monthly: Issue 13

What’s Your Vision?

The question "what's your vision?" invariably sparks the ideation of great work. It’s that almost spiritual moment that inspires a skillfully, detailed architectural plan that brings a grand vision to life.

Vision also describes the ambitious energy and daily culture of what fuels the environment at LEVY DYKEMA. Just six short months ago, our team's shared vision included expanding our talent resources, leadership team, geographic presence and even our physical workspace. The result was the announced expansion of LEVY in Austin and DYKEMA Architects in Corpus Christi, to form what is now known as LEVY DYKEMA.

And the vision of creating a new space and studios in Austin and Corpus Christi also served as a transformative milestone that has elevated excitement and productivity at LEVY DYKEMA. Vision is also a shared process with the many partners who helped LEVY DYKEMA enjoy the value of our new studios.

Community Connections

Community plays a big role in the LEVY DYKEMA company culture. We always encourage and support our team’s interests outside of the office.

This month, our Corpus Christi Studio Director Rob Garcia and his wife, Amanda, led our team in painting a mural for the new Goodwill Jobs Connections Center in Rockport, TX. Keep an eye on our social media for the big reveal!

Where does inspiration come from?

A message from our Principal, Bibiana B. Dykema

Vision Means Being Fearless
Beyond the ability to see, vision can mean so many things to me. As an architect, I love attempting to look at the future of design with imagination. I think at this point in my life, I “vision” with my wisdom gained through years of practice.

One of the best aspects of the LEVY DYKEMA expansion has been the addition of more young architects, interns, and project managers. Their insight or “vision” has been thrilling and infectious. Not to say that I’m not a dreamer, but young, fresh ideas are always welcomed.

I was interviewed several months ago by a young magazine editor, who at the end of the visit informed me that I am fearless. I had never associated myself with that word. The lesson I learned from this is that we should never stop learning about the world around us. I learned a good deal about myself from a young, open-minded editor.

In this LEVY DYKEMA journey, we will never lose sight of learning, growing, and visioning together as a team. This will be our ultimate success long term.
